Buried: Holy Cross Cemetery-Billings, Montana Section D, Lot 1504, Grave 6 Attended Billings Senior High on intermittent basis Perpetrator: Angelo Jaines Stallsmith Sr. AKA: Angelo Gray Richard George Rummel Tony James Vento Arthur Ben Scugedes Gordon Edward Griffin • DOB: May 14, 1949 in Doniphon, Missouri DOD: August 12, ,1990 at Billings Deaconess Hospital (41) Body was cremated by Smith's Crematory LKA: 2717 4th Avenue South Occupation: Welder YCSO documented 19 contacts with LE between 1966 and 1989 throughout the country. Incarcerated in California, Montana and Oregon Escapee from San Quentin Prison in California in 1972, recaptured days later in Salina, Kansas. Pertinent Facts: Booking Finger Print Card where DNA was located is dated 11/4/82. Corina has one living sister-Jennifer Contreraz and one living brother Carlos Contrreraz. What was the victim's heritage? Corina Lydia Contreraz was of dual heritage. Her father was of Hispanic origin, her mother was of full Sioux lineage. Did the Victim and Mr. Stallsmith know each other? We have no evidence that Corina and Angelo knew each other or had previously met. Did Angelo Stallsmith's name appear in the original case files? No. What was the motive for the crime? Since a sexual assault was involved, that may have been the motivation for the crime. We may never know for sure. Why did it take 4 7 years to be solved? We had to wait for technology to catch up. It took a number of years for DNA technology to advance to a level where the physical evidence could provide substantive leads in this case. Additionally, the use of forensic genealogy combined with DNA advancements over the recent years made this all possible. I Are there other serious crimes or homicides that Stallsmith is suspected of committing? Although Mr. Stallsmith had a lengthy criminal history, we have no evidence of his involvement in other homicides. Did Angelo Stallsmith have other family members in the area during this time? Yes, he had a brother living in Colstrip, Montana. He was eliminated as a suspect through DNA. He is deceased. Was there a weapon found at the scene? No murder weapon was or has been located. What was the victim doing out at 3am? Witnesses say Corina said she was walking over see her boyfriend on North 27th street. Is it possible that another person could have involved in the homicide? Physical evidence shows only one individual contributed DNA evidence found with the victim, however we may never know for sure if another person or persons were involved. We Don't Give Up!
